Ceremonial Uncleanness

Ceremonial uncleanness in the Bible refers to a state of ritual impurity that affects a person’s fitness to enter sacred space or participate in certain acts of worship. It is important to distinguish ceremonial uncleanness from personal wickedness or moral guilt. In many biblical cases, a person became unclean through ordinary experiences of human life such as childbirth, menstruation, disease, bodily discharge, or contact with a dead body (Leviticus 11-15; Numbers 19:11-22). The laws of uncleanness taught Israel that God is holy and that access to His sanctuary was not casual or common (Leviticus 10:10; 15:31).

Covenants

A covenant in the Bible is a solemn and binding agreement initiated by God, through which He establishes a relationship with humanity, making promises and, at times, setting conditions for obedience. Scripture presents covenants as central to God’s dealings with mankind, forming a unifying thread that runs from Genesis to Revelation. A covenant is more than a contract; it is a sacred commitment in which God binds Himself to His people (Genesis 17:7; Jeremiah 31:33).
