ALLURE
To allure is to entice, persuade, or draw someone toward a course. God’s discipline could draw Israel toward repentance, while wicked people entice others through sinful desires.
Definition
To allure is to persuade, woo, entice, or entrap someone, drawing that person toward a particular course. The word may describe either a gracious drawing toward repentance or a sinful enticement toward destruction.
Biblical Usage
God says that He would allure Israel into the wilderness through punishment leading to repentance, restoration, and renewed love. Wicked people allure others through fleshly lusts and lead them toward destruction.

<p>a-lur' (pathah, "to persuade," "woo," "entice"; deleazo, "to entrap," "lay a bait"):</p><p>(1) "I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness" (Ho 2:14), with evident reference to the Assyrian invasion and the devastation of the land, followed up by the Exile. Thus would Yahweh entice Israel to repent by gentle punishment; then would follow her restoration and the outpouring of His love (Ho 2:14 ff).</p><p>(2) "They allure through the lusts of the flesh" (2Pe 2:18, the Revised Version (British and American) "entice").
