Besor
A ravine or brook in southern Judah where two hundred of David’s men rested while the rest pursued the Amalekites.
Definition
Besor was a ravine or brook in the extreme southwest of Judah. David’s men reached it during their pursuit of the Amalekites; two hundred remained there because they were faint while four hundred continued the pursuit.
Biblical Usage
The Brook of Besor is part of the account of David’s pursuit of the Amalekites and the division of his men during that pursuit.
Historical Background
Besor was probably the Wady esh-Sheriah, south of Gaza.
