Ishvah was the second son of Asher. Since his family is not listed among the later clans, he may have left no descendants.

Definition

Ishvah, also rendered Ishuah or Isuah, was the second son of Asher. Since only the families of his brothers are mentioned in the later census, it is supposed that he left no descendants.

Biblical Usage

Ishvah is named among Asher’s sons in the genealogical records. The later tribal list mentions the families of his brothers but not his, which supports the supposition that he left no issue.

Historical Background

The name is represented by several forms in the versions, including Ishvah, Ishuah, and Isuah, and is explained as “even” or “level.”
