Kedron
Kedron is another name for Kidron, the ravine or winter stream between Jerusalem and the Mount of Olives. Jesus crossed it on the way to Gethsemane.
Definition
Kedron, properly Kidron, is the valley or winter stream between Jerusalem and the Mount of Olives. Its upper part is called the Valley of Jehoshaphat. The name may refer to blackness associated with the water, the ravine’s gloom, or dark green cedars.
Biblical Usage
Jesus crossed the Kidron or Cedron on the way to Gethsemane. The name appears in the New Testament in this connection.
Historical Background
The valley lies between Mount Moriah and the Mount of Olives and is now described as quite narrow. The Greek Old Testament rendered the name in one passage as referring to cedar.

The valley, now quite narrow, between the Mount of Olives and Mount Moriah. The upper part of it is called the Valley of Jehoshaphat. The LXX., in 1 Kings 15:13, translate “of the cedar.” The word means “black,” and may refer to the colour of the water or the gloom of the ravine, or the black green of the cedars which grew there. John 18:1, “Cedron,” only here in New Testament. (See KIDRON.)
