Mountain Of The Amorites
The Mountain of the Amorites was a range rising south of Judah from the wilderness plateau. It extended across the hill country and formed part of the landscape encountered by Israel before entering Canaan.
Definition
The Mountain of the Amorites was a range rising abruptly from the plateau of et-Tih south of Judea. It extended from a little south of west toward the northeast and continued into the hill country as far as Hebron.
Biblical Usage
It is the mountain range referred to in the account of Israel’s approach to Canaan. The region formed part of the landscape seen and traversed before entry into the land.
Historical Background
The proposed range extends between Jebel Araif en-Nakah in the west and Jebel el-Mukrah in the east, with the country continuing mountainous toward Hebron.
