Naphtali, Mount
Mount Naphtali was the mountainous district forming much of the inheritance of the tribe of Naphtali in northern Canaan.
Definition
Mount Naphtali was the mountainous district forming the principal part of the inheritance of the tribe of Naphtali. It was the northernmost of the three divisions of the western mountain range named after the tribes holding chief sway over them.
Biblical Usage
Mount Naphtali is mentioned in connection with the territory and cities of refuge assigned to Naphtali.
Historical Background
The Revised Version renders the expression as “the hill country of Naphtali.” The other corresponding divisions were Mount Judah and Mount Ephraim.
