Nekoda was the head of a family of Nethinim and also the head of a family unable to prove its Israelite ancestry after the exile.

Nekoda was the head of a family of Nethinim and also the head of a family that could not prove its Israelite descent after the exile. The two references concern separate family groups.

Biblical Usage

Nekoda appears in the postexilic lists of temple servants and of families whose genealogical claim to Israel could not be established.

Historical Background

In the parallel account of 1 Esdras, the names are given as Noeba and Nekodan.
