Adjuration

Adjuration is the act of requiring or giving a solemn oath or charge. In the Bible it includes formal demands for testimony, military oaths, the high priest’s charge to Jesus, and solemn appeals in the casting out of demons.
Biblical Usage
Saul adjured Israel during military danger; Joshua used an oath in pronouncing the ban on Jericho; and the high priest adjured Jesus. The term also describes solemn appeals by an unclean spirit and by the sons of Sceva in attempts to expel demons.
