Adonijah

Adonijah was David’s son who attempted to seize Israel’s throne instead of Solomon. After a later conspiracy, Solomon ordered his execution; the name was also borne by a Levite and a postexilic leader.
Biblical Usage
Adonijah’s attempted succession, refuge at the altar, submission to Solomon, later conspiracy, and execution are recorded in 1 Kings 1–2. The name was also borne by a Levite who taught the Law and by a postexilic leader who sealed the covenant.
