Alabaster
Alabaster was used for small perfume vessels. In the Gospels, a woman broke such a vessel and poured costly ointment on Jesus.
Biblical Usage
Alabaster vessels appear in the accounts of Jesus being anointed. The ointment was exceedingly costly, and breaking the vessel meant breaking or removing its narrow neck to release the contents.
