Alexandria

Alexandria was the great city of Egypt founded by Alexander the Great. It had a large Jewish population, a famous library, and was associated with the Greek translation of the Old Testament; Apollos was a native of the city.
Biblical Usage
Apollos was a native of Alexandria. Alexandrian Jews had a synagogue in Jerusalem, and Luke mentions ships from Alexandria. The city was also associated with the Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible, the Septuagint.
