Allegory
An allegory is an extended figurative representation in which persons, events, or objects convey a further meaning. Scripture uses allegorical language in places such as Psalm 80 and Galatians 4, while interpretation should remain grounded in the biblical text.

Scripture uses allegorical representation in passages such as Psalm 80, Ecclesiastes 12, John 10, and Ephesians 6. In Galatians 4, Paul draws a deeper meaning from the historical account of Hagar and Sarah without treating that history as merely fictional allegory.
