Ambassador
An ambassador is an official messenger or representative sent by a king or government. In the New Testament, Christian ministers are called ambassadors for Christ, proclaiming reconciliation with God.
Biblical Usage
The Old Testament records ambassadors sent for alliances, favors, protests, condolences, congratulations, peace, and inquiry. Injury to an ambassador insulted the king who sent him. In the New Testament, ministers are called ambassadors for Christ, and Paul describes himself as an ambassador in chains, entrusted with the ministry of reconciliation.
