Amon
Amon was the name of a governor of Samaria, a king of Judah who continued his father Manasseh’s idolatry and was assassinated, and an Egyptian deity worshiped at Thebes. The biblical references also mention a family head among the returning exiles.
Biblical Usage
Amon the governor held Micaiah in custody during Ahab’s reign. Amon king of Judah continued his father’s idolatry and was killed in a palace conspiracy, after which the people placed his son Josiah on the throne. Another Amon headed returning servants of Solomon.
