Arm
Doctrine & Theology • Both
The arm is used literally as a bodily limb and figuratively for strength, power, protection, or support. Scripture frequently uses the Lord’s outstretched arm to describe His power to save and judge.
Biblical Usage
Scripture uses the arm for human power and support, as when an arm is broken or strengthened. Applied to God, the outstretched or mighty arm represents his power to deliver, sustain, protect, judge, conquer, and redeem, especially in bringing Israel from Egypt.
