Arnon

Places & Geography • Old Testament
The Arnon was a river east of the Jordan and the southern boundary of Israel’s territory beyond Jordan. It separated Moab from the Amorites and later marked the boundary of Reuben.
Biblical Usage
Israel crossed or occupied territory associated with the Arnon after the Amorites had taken the region from Moab. The river is repeatedly cited as a boundary in the accounts of Israel’s territory and conflicts with Moab and Ammon.
