Artaxerxes

Artaxerxes was the Greek name of one or more Persian kings mentioned in Ezra and Nehemiah. Under Artaxerxes, Ezra led Jews back to Jerusalem, and Nehemiah received permission to rebuild the city’s walls.
Biblical Usage
Artaxerxes appears in Ezra in connection with opposition to the rebuilding of the temple and with Ezra’s return in the seventh year of a king’s reign. Nehemiah’s return and rebuilding work are associated with the same Persian monarchy.
