Ashdod

Ashdod was one of the five chief Philistine cities and a center of Dagon worship. It was assigned to Judah but remained largely independent; in the New Testament it is called Azotus.
Biblical Usage
Ashdod was a major center of Dagon worship and held the ark after the Philistines captured it. It appears in prophetic judgments and in Acts as the place through which Philip passed after leaving Gaza.
