ASSEMBLIES, MASTERS OF
“Assemblies, masters of” is a difficult expression in Ecclesiastes. It probably refers to those skilled in collecting and arranging wise sayings into ordered collections, though other interpretations have been proposed.
Biblical Usage
The expression occurs in Ecclesiastes in connection with the words of the wise and their orderly collection. Other interpretations understand it as referring to protectors of treasure chambers or to an assembly such as the Sanhedrin.
