ASSUAGE
To assuage means to soften, lessen, restrain, or cause something to subside. Scripture uses it of the waters of the Flood and of the restraint or mitigation of grief; the word is not used in the New Testament.

The word describes the Flood waters subsiding and grief being restrained. It is not used in the New Testament.
