The kingdom of Babylon was the ancient empire centered in Babylonia, the fertile land around the Tigris and Euphrates. Under Nebuchadnezzar it conquered Judah, but it was later captured by Cyrus.
Biblical Usage
Babylonia is called the land of the Chaldeans. It became the power that conquered Judah and carried its people into exile; Babylon’s capture by Cyrus ended its imperial independence.
