A bag in Scripture could be a shepherd’s wallet, a purse, a pouch for weights, a tied bundle for valuables, or a small money box. Judas carried such a money box among Jesus’ disciples.
Biblical Usage
Naaman’s silver was tied in bags; weights were carried in a bag; travelers carried money in bags; and Judas kept the disciples’ money in a small box called “the bag.” The shepherd’s bag held provisions for a journey.
