Burden

Christian Life • Both
A burden is a load, task, duty, hardship, or responsibility that must be carried. In prophetic passages it can mean an oracle, often one announcing judgment; spiritually, believers are called to bear one another’s burdens while accepting their own responsibilities.
Biblical Usage
Scripture speaks of burdens as loads, difficult duties, afflictions, iniquities, taxes, and moral responsibilities. In prophecy, “burden” can mean an oracle taken solemnly upon the lips, whether threatening or not. The New Testament also speaks of bearing one another’s burdens and of each person’s responsibility.
