Burial
Burial is the placing of the dead in a grave, tomb, or family sepulchre. Biblical burials commonly involved prompt interment, washing and wrapping the body, mourning, and burial in a natural or rock-cut tomb; Jesus was buried in a new tomb.
Biblical Usage
Burial is repeatedly recorded for patriarchs, kings, prophets, and others. Jesus was buried in a new rock-hewn tomb, and Lazarus was laid in a cave closed by a stone. Failure to receive burial is presented as a calamity or judgment.
