Captain

Government & Society • Both
A captain was a military commander or civil officer. Scripture also uses the title for temple guards and, figuratively, Christ as the author of salvation.
Biblical Usage
Scripture uses the title for military and civil leaders, the captain of the temple guard, and the commander of a Roman garrison. Christ is Captain of salvation because He is its author and source and leads His people to glory.
