Carmel
Carmel was both a fertile mountain range by the Mediterranean and a town of Judah. Elijah confronted Baal’s prophets on the mountain, and David’s wife Abigail came from the town.
Biblical Usage
On Mount Carmel Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal and restored the people’s allegiance to God. Elisha also visited the mountain. The Judahite Carmel was the home of Nabal and Abigail and was associated with David.
