Chaldea

Chaldea was the southern part of Babylonia, the fertile alluvial plain of the Euphrates and Tigris. Ur, Abraham’s birthplace, was located there.
Biblical Usage
The Old Testament uses the land of the Chaldeans for Babylonia and associates Ur, Abraham’s birthplace, with the Chaldees. The prophets also use Chaldeans for subjects of the Babylonian empire.
