Chemarim
Chemarim was a term used in the Old Testament for priests associated with idolatrous or unfaithful worship. They are condemned alongside other forms of false worship.
Biblical Usage
Chemarim are condemned alongside false worship in Zephaniah and are called idolatrous priests in the account of Josiah’s reforms. The term also appears in connection with priests in Hosea, with the marginal readings preserving “Chemarim.”
