Cherub
Cherub can refer to a symbolic heavenly creature or, in another passage, to an unidentified place in Babylonia. The cherubim associated with God’s presence are especially connected with the ark and the divine throne.
Biblical Usage
Cherubim guarded the way to the tree of life, stood over the mercy-seat, and represented the divine presence. God spoke from between them, and prophetic visions portray them as living creatures supporting His throne. The place called Cherub is mentioned in the postexilic lists.
