Cherub, Cherubim
Cherubim are symbolic heavenly creatures represented in connection with Eden, the tabernacle, the temple, and visions of God’s throne. Their images guarded sacred space and signified the majesty and presence of God.
Biblical Usage
A cherub guarded Eden. Cherubim stood over the ark’s mercy-seat with wings extended upward and faces toward one another and the mercy-seat. They signified the divine presence and were associated with God’s throne or chariot.
