Christ
Christ means Anointed One and is the Greek equivalent of Messiah. It is the official title of Jesus, declaring Him to be divinely appointed as Prophet, Priest, King, and Savior in fulfillment of Scripture.
Biblical Usage
Jesus the Christ is presented as the promised Deliverer foretold in the Law and the Prophets. To believe that Jesus is the Christ is to believe that He is God’s anointed Messiah and Savior; this faith constitutes a Christian.
