Covenant
A covenant is a solemn agreement or binding relationship, especially one established by God’s promise and command. Scripture speaks of covenants with Noah, Abraham, Israel, David, and believers through Christ.
Biblical Usage
Scripture speaks of covenants with Noah, Abraham, Israel, the priesthood, and David, as well as the Sinai covenant and its renewals. Covenants may be confirmed by an oath and accompanied by a sign. The New Testament presents Christ as mediator of the covenant of grace, while the covenant of works concerns perfect obedience and its penalty.
