Covetousness
Covetousness is an excessive desire for possessions, wealth, or anything belonging to another. Scripture treats it as a serious sin and even calls it idolatry because it turns the heart from God to created things.
Biblical Usage
Scripture treats covetousness as a grave sin, calls it idolatry, and says that it excludes a person from the kingdom of heaven. It is associated with departure from the faith, lying, theft, domestic trouble, oppression, murder, and other harmful desires.
