The crafts of Bible times included brickmaking, carpentry, carving, pottery, dyeing, embroidery, glassmaking, grinding, masonry, metalworking, oilmaking, weaving, tanning, tentmaking, and winemaking. These skills served household, commercial, civic, and religious purposes.
Biblical Usage
The Bible mentions crafts in the making of the tabernacle and temple, domestic utensils and fabrics, ships, idols, seals, jars, garments, glass, tools, buildings, tents, and wine. Craftsmen included both Israelites and foreign workers, especially in fine or technical work.
