EASE

Christian Life • Both
Ease means tranquility, security, comfort, or freedom from trouble. Scripture also warns against being at ease in a careless or morally indifferent state.
Biblical Usage
Prophets rebuke nations, groups, and individuals who are at ease in a morally careless sense. The rich fool’s words, “take thine ease, eat, drink, be merry,” illustrate the figurative use of ease as complacent security. The term can also describe relief from physical distress.
