ETHIOPIC LANGUAGE
The ancient literary language of Christian Abyssinia, also called Ge’ez. It is a southern Semitic language in which inscriptions and a Christian translation of both Testaments were produced.
Biblical Usage
After the Bible was translated into Ge’ez, the Abyssinians recognized references to Ethiopia in Scripture and applied the biblical name to their own country.
