Evangelist
An evangelist is a preacher or missionary who proclaims the gospel, especially among those who have not yet heard it. The New Testament also names evangelist as a distinct ministry alongside apostles, prophets, pastors, and teachers.
Biblical Usage
Philip is specifically called an evangelist, and Paul and Timothy also performed evangelistic work. The evangelist’s special task was to proclaim the gospel, after which pastors and teachers instructed and built up believers.
