FALL, THE
Sin & Judgment • Both
The Fall is humanity’s first disobedience to God’s command in Genesis 3. It brought the loss of innocence, sin, suffering, and death, and stands behind the biblical teaching of judgment and redemption.
Biblical Usage
The Fall is treated as the foundation of the biblical doctrine of sin and redemption. Adam is presented as the origin of sin and death, while Christ is presented as the source of righteousness and life. Forgiveness, salvation, and the end of suffering are therefore connected with redemption from sin.
