Forehead
The forehead is mentioned literally in connection with the high priest’s holy inscription, Goliath’s wound, and marks or signs placed on people. Figuratively, a hard forehead represents stubbornness, while marks on the forehead can signify allegiance or identity.
Biblical Usage
The high priest wore a golden frontlet inscribed “Holy to Yahweh.” David struck Goliath in the forehead. Marks on foreheads could identify devotees, slaves, the righteous, or followers of the beast. A hard forehead represents obstinate resistance, while a hardened forehead given to the prophet represents unflinching loyalty to God.
