Fuller
A fuller cleansed, bleached, and prepared cloth, using water and alkaline substances such as soap or plant ash. Fullers worked outside cities because the process required space and could produce offensive odors.
Biblical Usage
Fulling provides the comparison for the extraordinary whiteness of Jesus’ garments at the Transfiguration. Fuller’s soap is also used as an image of thorough cleansing.
