GUILTY
Guilty may mean blameworthy, legally liable, responsible for a transgression, or subject to judgment. New Testament usage sometimes emphasizes liability or participation in an offense rather than the full moral sense of personal blame.
Biblical Usage
In Matthew 26:66, guilty of death means liable to death. In Romans 3:19 it means under judgment, and in Matthew 23:18 it means debtor. In James 2:10 and 1 Corinthians 11:27, it indicates responsibility for transgressing the law or offending concerning the body and blood of the Lord.
