Herodias
Herodias was first married to Herod Philip and later to Herod Antipas. She opposed John the Baptist’s rebuke of that unlawful marriage and helped bring about his execution.
Biblical Usage
John the Baptist rebuked Antipas and Herodias for their unlawful marriage. Herodias especially desired John’s death and used her daughter Salome’s request at Herod’s birthday feast to obtain John’s head after he had been imprisoned.
