HIVITE
The Hivites were one of the peoples living in Canaan before Israel’s settlement. Biblical references place them especially in the northern regions near Lebanon and Mount Hermon, though some passages may reflect textual confusion with the Horites.
Biblical Usage
The Hivites appear among the peoples encountered or named in connection with Israel’s history. They are associated especially with Mount Lebanon, Mount Baal-hermon, the entrance of Hamath, Hermon, Mizpeh, and the region near Tyre.
