Holy of holies
The holy of holies was the innermost chamber of the tabernacle and temple, containing the ark under the old covenant. Only the high priest entered it once a year, while Hebrews presents it as a figure of heaven opened through Christ’s sacrifice.
Biblical Usage
Only the high priest entered the holy of holies, and that only once a year with incense and sacrificial blood. Hebrews presents it figuratively as heaven, where Christ entered through His own sacrifice, opening the way for His people.
