Honey

Agriculture & Daily Life • Both
Honey was a valued sweet food obtained chiefly from bees, often found in rocks, trees, or the wilderness. Scripture also uses honey as a picture of abundance, sweetness, and the pleasantness of God’s word.
Biblical Usage
Honey symbolizes abundance in the description of a land flowing with milk and honey, and sweetness in descriptions of speech and God’s ordinances. It was a luxury and a valued food, though excessive eating was associated with nausea and the need for moderation.
