Horn

Objects & Symbols • Both
A horn was used as a trumpet, container, or symbol of the altar’s projections. Figuratively, horns represent strength, honor, victory, royal power, or dominion; the “horn of salvation” denotes a strong deliverer.
Biblical Usage
Horns were used as trumpets and containers, and the altars of burnt offering and incense had horns that were anointed with sacrificial blood. They could provide sanctuary to a fugitive. Figuratively, horns portray strength and power; to exalt the horn denotes prosperity and triumph, while to cut it off denotes loss of power. The horn of salvation signifies a strong deliverer.
