Hymenaeus
People & Groups • New Testament
Hymenaeus was a false teacher associated with Alexander and Philetus. He rejected the true teaching of the resurrection, claiming it had already occurred, and thereby damaged the faith of some believers.
Biblical Usage
Paul says that Hymenaeus had put away faith and a good conscience and had made shipwreck concerning faith. He and Alexander were delivered unto Satan so that they might learn not to blaspheme. With Philetus, he is named as one whose teaching overthrew the faith of some.
