Idol
Sin & Judgment • Both
An idol is an image or created object treated as a god or worshiped in place of the true God. Scripture uses the term for carved, molded, painted, or household images and repeatedly exposes their powerlessness.
Biblical Usage
The Bible condemns idols as false objects of worship and contrasts them with the living God. Idols included images of Baal, household gods, sun-images, carved figures, molten images, and painted representations. Scripture repeatedly presents them as human inventions without divine power.
