Image
Doctrine & Theology • Both
In Scripture, image can refer to an idol, humanity made in God’s image, or Christ as the unique image and perfect revelation of the invisible God. Human beings retain this created dignity, while believers are renewed into Christ’s likeness.
Biblical Usage
Human beings are made in God’s image, possessing a distinctive rational, moral, and spiritual relation to their Creator. Believers are renewed after that image and progressively transformed into Christ’s likeness. Christ is called the image of the invisible God and the exact expression of God’s nature.
